Optima SD Instruction Manual
Executing a Test Switch
We recommend executing a test switch to verify the system is working properly before attaching all
inputs and outputs. Aside from having signal cables attached, the system is ready to execute switches
when it ships from the factory.
Important: The Optima SD ships from the factory with a default switch of Input 1 to all output.
Before executing the test switch, you will need to disconnect the factory default switch.
The first two source and destination devices must be attached to the input and output connectors as
indicated in the “AutoPatch Optima Connector Guide” that is shipped with each system. After the
devices are connected, power must be applied to the enclosure first and then to the devices before
executing a test switch.
A test switch can be executed from the following:
Control panel
AMX control device
Control software, such as APControl 3.0 or APWeb
BCS (Basic Control Structure) commands over an external controller
External third-party controller
Executing a Test Switch
Before executing the test switch, make sure the first two source devices and the first two destination
devices are connected to the input and output connectors.
Important: RGBHV signals require multiple input or output connectors (see page 27). All of the
signal cables for an RGBHV signal (and audio if applicable) must be attached before executing the
test switch.
When executing a test switch, we suggest routing Input (source) 1 to Output (destination) 2 on VM 0
(virtual matrix zero, which is the default).
Control Panel
Each Optima SD system comes with a CP-15 Control Panel. Instructions follow for disconnecting the
factory default switch and executing a test switch from the panel.
